AJA Io: Uncompressed Analog and Digital
Interface for Final Cut Pro 4
|
 |
Io ushers in an elegant new way of thinking about how your
audio/video interface connect to your non-linear editing system.
No need for a PCI card, or to even open your computer case for
that matter. Io is a single external device that provides all
the analog and digital professional video, audio, and sync connections
you need - all converted to 10-bit uncompressed video and 24-bit/96kHz.
All this connects to your Final Cut Pro 4 system via a single
FireWire cable. |
FireWire connection - but NOT DV
Io uses a FireWire cable to carry data between it and your Final
Cut Pro 4 workstation - but it is not DV. This is truly uncompressed
10-bit, 601 NTSC/PAL video. By bringing the interface outside the
box, you now have a portable, shareable, plug-n-play interface that
can be used quickly and easily where and when it's needed. As an
AJA/Apple joint venture, the drivers are built right into Final
Cut Pro 4, so things couldn't be simpler.
All the connections you need
SDI, Component, Y/C (S-video), and Composite for video; AES/EBU,
ADAT, S/PDIF, Balanced XLR and Tascam interfaces for audio. Io also
features sync input for referencing to black burst, and word clock
for audio. Even the 9-pin serial port for VTR control is built into
the Io, so no need for another USB device, PCI card, or modem replacement
to get professional deck control.

Hiqh quality AND inexpensive
The converters in Io are using the same 10-bit processors and other
high quality components used in AJA's highly-respected professional
stand-alone converters, which are a mainstay of the professional
video industry. The video is recorded as 10-bit uncompressed at
D1 resolution into Apple's new Alpine codec. The audio is recorded
at up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution (for comparison, CD Audio is 16-bit/44.1kHz).
With everything the Io offers, it carries a suggested retail price
of only $2,290. Contact Audio Intervisual Design at (323) 845-1155
