Dolby Labs Ships Their New DP568 Professional Reference Decoder!

The Dolby DP568 provides comprehensive monitoring and quality control for Dolby audio formats in broadcast applications

The latest in Dolby’s family of professional broadcast products, the DP568 Professional Reference Decoder is designed to help broadcasters ensure that listeners at home will enjoy the highest quality audio experience. The DP568 provides real-time decoding of Dolby® Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Pulse, and Dolby Pro Logic® II. It’s also a convenient platform for confidence monitoring of the latest Dolby technologies, such as secondary audio bitstream mixing.

Extensive input capabilities allow broadcasters to perform quality control at any point within their headend. This enables monitoring and display of all audio-related metadata as well as measuring program loudness, using Dialogue Intelligence™ or ITU-R BS.1770-1 loudness estimation.

Additional features provide broadcasters with monitoring capabilities for their set-top box QC labs. These features include a consumer emulation mode for Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Pulse decoders found in consumer TVs and set-top boxes, H.264 and MPEG-2 video decoding, and standard analog and digital audio and video outputs (including HDMI™).

A Web-based user interface provides easy selection and monitoring of Dolby’s unique downmixing capabilities,
listening modes, and compression modes. Front-panel controls also allow selective monitoring through standard headphones.
