Avid Audio announces new I/O for the Pro Tools|HD line of products, plus new software!

On August 17, 2010, Avid Audio announced three new I/O for the Pro Tools|HD system, HEAT software bringing analog sound to the HD mixer, and a new release of Pro Tools|HD v.8.1.

The new flagship HD I/O converter

Avid Professional Audio listened to what their end-users wanted, and responded with the HD I/O. Since nothing could be more important than sonic quality, they've completely re-engineered the system from the ground up. The HD I/O features a new topology design with state-of-the-art analog front end, with redesigned filters and new converters (using Cirrus and TI integrated circuits). They've shortened the signal path and completely de-coupled the power supply to improve noise performance and reduce jitter. The HD I/O features lower latency than any previous Avid Audio product, and includes a new digital card that offers 192kHz AES/EBU on a single wire, in addition to ADAT S/MUX 2 and S/MUX 4 capabilities. The new "Curv" soft knee analog limiter rounds out the redesign.

The HD I/O is available in 3 different configurations: 16 x 16 digital only for an MSRP of $2495; 8 x 8 x 8 analog and digital MSRP $3995; and 16 x 16 analog only for $4995. According to Avid Audio, these should be available in early September 2010.

New HD OMNI I/O

Avid Professional Audio today announced their new HD OMNI I/O for the Pro Tools|HD product line. The HD OMNI gives you 4 inputs and 8 outputs, for the "ultimate" project audio interface. It includes digitall controlled mic/line/di preamps; flexible analog and digital i/o; uses the same new conversion technology as the flagship HD I/O; the new "Curv" analog soft knee limiter; and persistent surround monitoring that offers a 14 x 26 channel mixer with 7.1 format and fold-down to virtually any monitor format. 8 balanced analog inputs and outputs on the standard DB-25 connector, with 2 mic pres on XLR and inserts via TRS. One pair of AES inputs and an S/PDIF i.o complement the ADAT/SMUX optical i/o. Word clock and loop sync input round out the back panel. The new HD OMNI will have an MSRP of $2995 and will be available immediately.

The new HD MADI I/O for large format I/O

Never have so many I/O for your Pro Tools|HD system been available in so few rackspaces! The new HD MADI I/O offers 64 channels of both optical and coax i/o in just a single rackunit! Interfacing to a Euphonix console has never been easier and it takes the place of 4 192 I/O (and the 8RU those converters take up in your rack). Because you're frequently asked to work with devices of differing sample rates, the HD MADI I/O offers up to 56 channels of real-time sample rate conversion on both input and output, and gives you comprehensive and flexible clocking options.

HEAT, what digital sounds like now!

Designed by legendary audio developer Dave Hill of Crane Song, HEAT adds everything you've loved about analog to your HD mixer. Not a plug-in, HEAT transforms the sound of your entire Pro Tools|HD mix. As Dave Hill says, "HEAT gives you a wonderful combination of analog tape, transformer, and tube qualities and really represents a giant leap forward in analog modeling". HEAT will come free with all new systems and is available for existing Pro Tools|HD systems for only an MSRP of $495.

New monitoring in Pro Tools|HD v.8.1 plus special pricing on Core and new I/O prices !

In order to work with the new Pro Tools|HD I/O, Avid Professional Audio is releasing the v.8.1 software update for free. This is a Pro Tools|HD only upgrade and will give you the flexibility to work with the new multiformat monitoring and folddown capabilities of the new i/o, such as the OMNI I/O, and allow you to run the new HEAT analog modeling software.

To celebrate the release of the new I/O, Avid is offering limited time specials on the purchase of Core cards and new I/O. Intrigued? Call your AID sales rep at 323 845-1155 or email us by clicking here!
