Through its own Avid Media Access Architecture (AMA), Avid enables users to connect the AJA Ki Pro to Mac-based Media Composer and Symphony systems to instantly view, edit and play back ProRes QuickTime files with access to all clip metadata.

With Ki Pro compatibility, Avid Media Composer and Symphony customers will be able to:

• Record hours of pristine Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime media to a removable storage module with built-in FireWire800 for immediate editing and file access on OS X

• Record natively to Apple ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422 (Proxy) and ProRes 422 (LT) for full raster 10-bit 4:2:2 HD/SD

• Convert in real time from SD to HD, or 720 to/from 1080, in full 10-bit quality

AJA Teams with CineForm to Enable True Stereo 3D Output from Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro Timelines via Neo3D and KONA 3

AJA has collaborated with workflow solution developer CineForm to provide Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and other Mac and Windows-based NLE and effects software users with a variety of unique ways to output stereoscopic 3D material using the AJA KONA 3 video capture card through CineForm?s Neo3D software.

CineForm?s Neo3D software delivers a comprehensive 3D editorial workflow, enabling users to create 3D QuickTime or AVI files that include temporally-aligned left and right eyes and edit 3D projects in real time with full frame rate playback to an external 3D monitor. With expanded support for Neo3D software, AJA KONA 3 enables direct play-out of discrete left eye/right eye images and/or a muxed 3D image. After making the appropriate selection in the CineForm Neo3D software, users with 3D-capable LCD monitors or 3D projectors can view stereo content by configuring the KONA 3 for stereo output via the AJA Control Panel application.

KUMO Compact Routers and Control Panel, KUMO CP

AJA is demonstrating the new KUMO remote control panel (KUMO CP) at NAB.

Available this summer the KUMO CP allows users to control up to 4 KUMO compact routers and up to 16 KUMO Control Panels can be used by a single KUMO router.

FiDO Mini Converters

AJA has introduced five new Mini Converter products at NAB 2010; the FiDO family of SDI/Optical Fiber Converters.

FiDO (Fiber Digital Optical) is a family of five SDI/Optical Fiber converters that enable the transport of SDI, HD-SDI and 3G SDI over distances of up to 10km. Designed for outdoor or indoor use, FiDO converters pass the complete SDI signal (including audio and/or meta data), and meet all relevant SMPTE specifications. Their low profile enclosure enables use in tight spaces around and behind equipment racks, trucks and crowded facilities.

FiDO models include:

• FiDO-R: Single channel Fiber to SDI Mini Converter with dual SDI outputs
• FiDO-2R: Dual channel Fiber to SDI Mini Converter

AJA announces Cross-Platform Hardware Support for Adobe Create Suite 5 Production Premium Software

AJA Video Systems announced support for Adobe® Creative Suite® 5 Production Premium software across its full line of KONA cross-platform video I/O cards and the Io Express portable I/O interface. AJA?s new plug-ins also provide support for the Adobe Mercury Playback Engine and 64-bit processing for fast, efficient and stable performance and productivity.

Additionally, AJA?s new plug-ins for Adobe Creative Suite 5 will now feature direct support for the CineForm codec for use with CineForm?s Neo HD, Neo 3D and Neo 4K in combination with AJA?s KONA and Io Express products.
