3D was everywhere at the show: are you ready for it? • 3D, 3D, 3D! Everything's 3D at NAB this year! If there was any one technology that swept the show, as there frequently is, this year it's 3D. • Probably the single biggest piece of news from the NAB Show actually came out on Sunday morning, the day before the show opened: Avid had entered into an agreement to purchase Euphonix. Having sat in the banquet room when the announcement was made at the Avid Reseller Meeting, we can tell you what Avid was thinking! Coming soon!
• But that's not all the Avid news to be had: they announced native Quicktime support, including Pro Res, and AVC Intra support in the upcoming Media Composer 5 release. Check it out here!
• As to be expected, AJA Video always make the Show much more fun! After the introduction of the Ki Pro last year, AJA just continues to make it more and more functional with their upcoming 2.0 firmware release! Avid's announcement of native Pro Res support means that you can now bring that immediate lens to post workflow into the Avid environment! But wait, there's more! How about 8-channel embedded audio or RS-422 9-pin machine control and multiple unit record? And AJA has introduced their new FiDO line of bidirectional fibre-to-HD-SDI products for those long runs you need. And let's not forget IoExpress or the new KUMO routers!
