work surface, Pro Tools|HD Accel system, and extensive I/O options
NAB 2004, Las Vegas (Booth #SL4761) – April 18, 2004 –
Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID),
today announced the availability of ICON, an integrated audio production
environment featuring the all-new D-Control™ tactile work
surface, the Pro Tools|HD® Accel system as its core DSP engine,
and modular Digidesign Pro Tools|HD audio interfaces for analog
and digital I/O. ICON will be available for demonstration by appointment
soon at Audio Intervisual Design in Hollywood.
The first truly integrated solution of its kind, ICON consolidates
the recording, editing, processing, and mixing functions in an automated,
customizable system that can be instantly reconfigured to accommodate
even the most complex session changes. Its unprecedented power and
flexibility make ICON a breakthrough for owners of audio post houses,
music facilities, and private recording studios who are interested
in implementing a seamless workflow across the entire production
process.
“ICON is the result of a long-term collaboration between
Digidesign and leaders in the audio mixing community to develop
a product that addresses the needs of music, film, broadcast, and
multimedia professionals,” said Dave Lebolt, Digidesign general
manager. “This effort has allowed us to offer the only system
in the industry that combines all the advantages of a large-format
digital console with true ‘from-the-ground-up’ connectivity
to the leading digital audio workstation. We’re confident
that, with ICON, we’ll help drive a large segment of the audio
production community into a future of digital mixing that fully
integrates computer-based tools with powerful, dependable, and versatile
tactile control.”
As the mixing centerpiece of the ICON system, the D-Control work
surface features built-in 7.1-channel panning, touch-sensitive controls,
a wide range of visual mixing feedback, a dedicated center section,
per-channel control over all processing and routing functions, global
automation capabilities, full studio and control room monitoring,
and a modular architecture that allows users to add fader banks
to the core system. Other features of ICON include expandable analog
and digital I/O, integrated remote mic preamps, industry-leading
Development Partner effects processing plug-ins and software options,
seamless Avid picture support, and comprehensive synchronization
and machine-control options.
