Blackmagic Design announces full
support for Adobe Premiere Pro and Microsoft DirectShow on Windows
XP
DeckLink features the worlds highest quality uncompressed cross
platform broadcast video card for Microsoft Windows XP and Apple
Mac OS X
Melbourne, Australia (March 12, 2004) - Today Blackmagic Design
announced the immediate availability of DeckLink for Windows v4.2
software allowing full Microsoft Windows compatibility for it's
standard definition DeckLink range of uncompressed 10-bit video
cards.
Support includes Adobe Premiere Pro compatibility and full compatibility
with Microsoft DirectShow-based applications. QuickTime support
is also featured allowing compatibility with applications such as
Adobe After Effects and Discreet Combustion.
Now all DeckLink standard definition models can run on either Microsoft
Windows XP or Apple Mac OS X operating systems using the same hardware
card.
Adobe Premiere Pro
All standard definition DeckLink cards are now fully compatible
with Adobe's flagship non-linear video editing software, Premiere
Pro. Full capture and playback output are supported using the included
software plug-ins.
Unlike other Premiere Pro-compatible video interface cards, DeckLink
running on Windows also includes a fully RS-422 Sony-compatible
serial control protocol port with software plugs-in for Premiere
Pro.
All files captured through Premiere Pro are saved using the standard
Microsoft UYVY AVI format. AVI files are compatible with most other
Windows applications, creating easy workflow between Premiere Pro
and your other software.
Microsoft DirectShow
Now included with the latest DeckLink for Windows v4.2 software
is full support for Microsoft DirectShow technology. DirectShow
is an open standard facilitating communication between multimedia
software and hardware. Using this technology, DeckLink is compatible
with an ever-widening range of powerful design and editing software
for direct capture and playback of video.
DirectShow filter drivers for DeckLink allow developers to support
capture and playback directly in their own applications using the
low cost DeckLink interfaces. Currently this includes capture, output,
and render filter support, as well as the respected Blackmagic codecs
which are fully optimized for the latest MMX acceleration technology.
Apple QuickTime on Windows
DeckLink is the only high end uncompressed video interface card
to be compatible with Apple QuickTime on Windows. Blackmagic Design's
QuickTime codec supports 16-bit rendering for super high-quality
renders. Because QuickTime is a cross-platform standard, files can
be moved between Windows 2000, Windows XP and Apple Mac OS X with
ease. Cross-platform applications such as Adobe After Effects and
Discreet Combustion can take advantage of this by working with a
single codec on both Windows and Mac systems, without any file conversion
required.
QuickTime applications such as Adobe After Effects and Discreet
Combustion can also outut realtime RAM previews through the DeckLink's
SDI video connection. Color-correction, motion graphics, and other
compositing work can thus be accomplished with full confidence using
a broadcast quality monitor in realtime.
DeckLink for Windows also supports desktop view, whereby the video
output acts as an additional indpendent computer display. Applications
that do not support QuickTime can in this way still be output in
realtime through the DeckLink's video outputs. This includes non-video
software such as Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Powerpoint.

DeckLink for Windows v4.2 software for standard definiton products
is available immediately from the Blackmagic web site support
