Sonic Solutions has just announced at IBC in Amsterdam this week that they are introducing a new line of Blu-ray production products known as the “Studio” line. While those producing “A” list feature films will still want to use Sonic’s flagship Pro line (which have also come down in price with this announcement), the Studio line will provide more than enough tools for the average post-production facility.

The Studio authoring product offers full support of Profile 1.0, including:
Full Primary Audio and Video Format Support
Full HDMV Movie Mode Menu Support
Presentation Graphic Subtitle Import (via BDN import)
Profile 1.0 AACS Support
What Scenarist BD Studio does NOT support that Scenarist BD Professional does are primarily Profile 1.1 and 2.0 features:

Further, Scenarist BD Studio offers a more limited elementary stream support, such as: 50 Movie Objects instead of 1001; 3 Audio Streams instead of 32; 1 Video Angle instead of 9; and more. Additionally, there are “workflow enhancement features” that only Scenarist BD Professional offer, such as: Navicommand import/export; project cloing; BD+ Content Protection Support; distributed multiplexing; and more.
That said, for the average corporate or independent film title, the features available in Scenarist BD Studio will offer the rich media experience that only comes with Blu-ray Disc, yet it’s priced within the range of most of the professional tools used by many post-production firms.
CineVision Studio - just $15,999.00!
Sonic’s industry-standard CineVision video encoding software now also comes in a Studio version. The CineVision Studio software encoder gives you the flexibility of using any of the mandatory Blu-ray codecs (MPEG-2 HD, VC-1, and H.264 or AVC) and supports all the legal Blu-ray and DVD frame rates. What the CineVision Professional adds (now also lowered in price) is advanced segment-based editing and re-encoding, and the dts Master Audio Suite encoding software.
